GOOD TO KNOW

Questions people ask us.

Short answers about the phone, your data and how to get started. Ask the rest on Discord.

Is AetherOS free?

Yes. The plugin, every app and the Store are free. Sparks, the points you spend in the Store, are earned by playing. AetherOS will never sell points for real money. Supporting us on Patreon is optional.

Is AetherOS open source?

The plugin, its libraries and every app are published on GitHub under the AGPL licence. The server that runs the network is not part of that release.

Can I get banned for using AetherOS?

AetherOS is a Dalamud plugin. Square Enix does not allow third-party tools, so every plugin is used at your own risk. AetherOS does not change game files and never controls your character. It draws a phone in your game window.

Are my chats private?

Your private chat messages are end-to-end encrypted with keys only you hold, so our servers cannot read them. Posts on Yapper are public by design.

I can see server stats on the Discord. Are my swipes and matches public? Can staff see them?

The stats on the Discord are aggregate numbers only: totals and trends, never anyone's individual swipes or matches. For moderation, staff can see your profile, your photos and activity such as your swipe counts. What staff cannot do is read your messages: all chats are end-to-end encrypted, so even we could not see them if we wanted to. Your photos are not public either. They are only shown inside the app to other players, never on a website and never to anyone outside AetherOS.

Do I need my Square Enix password?

No. You sign in with XIVAuth, which checks that you own your character. AetherOS never sees your Square Enix login.

Does the app track my location, personal details or login details?

No. AetherOS does not track your in-game position or your real-life location, and it does not need either to work. You never hand us your Square Enix login: sign-in goes through XIVAuth, an authorization system made by KazWolfe of the core Dalamud team. Your password and login details never touch the plugin. We identify you only by your Lodestone ID, which is what lets us confirm it is really you and moderate efficiently. The plugin is open source and updates automatically when a new version ships.

Is AI used on my pictures?

Only for moderation. AetherOS uses paid enterprise APIs from OpenAI, and under that agreement your content is never used to train OpenAI's models: a contractual guarantee, not a toggle. When a photo is uploaded, automated tools check whether it is safe, whether it matches the content rating you picked and whether it stays within our rules. Anything questionable is flagged for a human moderator to make the final call. Your images are not used to train any model, not OpenAI's, not ours, not anyone's.

Can I delete my data?

Yes. Settings on the phone lets you delete a dating profile or your whole account.

How do I install AetherOS?

Add our repository to Dalamud's custom plugin repositories, then install AetherOS from the plugin list. The phone appears in your game right away.

Which languages does the phone speak?

English, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese and Russian in the phone. This website also reads in Dutch, Polish, Italian, Japanese, Arabic and Turkish.

What is Lumi?

Lumi is your Aetherling, a small companion that lives on your phone. Feed it, play minigames with it, dress it up and race it.

What is the policy on underage-looking characters?

We have zero tolerance for NSFW content involving Lalafell characters. It is not allowed, full stop. For petite, shortstack or younger-looking characters more generally, we judge case by case: every profile and picture is different, so a single hard line is not realistic. These calls are never made alone. We always have at least two moderators active, and borderline cases are discussed internally before any decision is made.

Will there be a mobile or web version?

No. That would defeat the purpose of the plugin. We want people to meet and make memories together in the game we all love. We have no plans for a web, desktop or mobile version of AetherOS. Any place offering one is bad news and most likely a security risk.

Who are you, and are you an Italian vibecoder?

We're Astraea and Nihal, and no, we're not Italian, so the label doesn't quite land. I'm a software engineer with many years of experience, and yes, I use AI tooling like any modern developer, but the code is written, reviewed and tested by me, not blindly shipped. I've been around the FFXIV development scene for a while, but apart from a certain sync plugin I had never released anything to the public before AetherLove. How we use AI is written down in the terms, under AI-assisted moderation.

Are you the developers of 69inder, the earlier "Tinder for FFXIV" that had its data leaked?

No. Absolutely not. Neither Nihal nor Astraea has been involved with any similar service.
